About
Edie Nightingall is a British Photographer based in the Southeast of England. Within her practice, she considers themes of intimacy, womanhood and family, primarily navigating the unobserved corners of the spaces she inhabits. Her photographic process consists of using a blend of both carefully constructed imagery and documentational observation, approaching her subjects with a tenderness that exudes throughout the work. The fusion of detailed close-ups alongside wide-scale shots traverses the expansiveness of living.
Her latest work focuses on examining the historical and cultural parallels between women and racehorses within patriarchal systems of control. Drawing from her family’s equestrian lineage, she explores themes of conditioning, value and obedience, questioning how both subjects are shaped in male-dominated structures.
